The Honda 41200-PCZ-023 S2000 AP1 00-3 Torsen Slip Differential LSD Race 4.78 Gear is a high-performance differential assembly designed specifically for Honda S2000 models produced between 1999 and 2002. This differential upgrade provides significant improvements for enthusiasts seeking enhanced traction, improved handling, and increased power delivery to the wheels.
This upgrade features a Torsen LSD (Limited-Slip Differential) design, which utilizes a set of clutches that automatically distribute engine torque between the wheels to ensure optimal traction during cornering. The LSD ensures that power is delivered more evenly to both wheels, reducing understeer and oversteer, while also preventing wheel spin and providing an overall more balanced and responsive driving experience.
The final drive gear ratio of the differential is 4.78:1, which provides ideal power transfer for high-performance applications. Combining a shorter final drive ratio with increased traction, this setup delivers better acceleration and improved power distribution, resulting in a more exhilarating and agile driving experience.
The Honda 41200-PCZ-023 S2000 AP1 Torsen Slip Differential LSD Race 4.78 Gear offers a race-proven design, making it suitable for both track use and aggressive street driving. Constructed from durable materials, including high-strength steel and precision machined components, this unit is built to handle the demands of high-performance driving, reducing the likelihood of failures or component wear compared to the stock differential.
Additionally, the reduced rotating mass of this differential upgrade, along with its optimized gear design, will provide improved pedal response and more immediate torque transfer, granting the driver greater control during dynamic driving scenarios. Overall, the Honda 41200-PCZ-023 S2000 AP1 Torsen Slip Differential LSD Race 4.78 Gear is a valuable investment for anyone looking to extract the maximum performance from their Honda S2000.
The Honda S2000 is a beloved sports car known for its balanced handling and high-revving engine. Installing a Torsen LSD differential with a 4.78 gear ratio can enhance the driving experience by providing better traction, improved handling, and quicker acceleration in the lower gears. Let's explore the main advantages and disadvantages of investing in a Honda S2000 AP1 00-3 Torsen LSD differential with a 4.78 gear:
Pros:1. Superior Traction: Torsen LSD differentials distribute power evenly between the wheels during cornering to prevent wheel slip, ensuring better grip and improved traction.
2. Enhanced Handling: With the added grip and traction, the vehicle will handle better, offering a more responsive and agile driving experience.
3. Quicker Acceleration: A 4.78 gear ratio is shorter than the stock differential's and provides better acceleration, particularly in the lower gears.
4. Racing Applications: This differential is engineered for race applications, allowing for higher power output and better overall performance margin.
5. Ruggedness: Torsen differentials are known for their durability and reliability, making them a popular choice for high-performance applications.
Cons:1. Cost: Upgrading to a Torsen LSD differential with 4.78 gear is a significant investment. The cost of parts, labor, and any necessary adaptations can add up quickly.
2. Additional Complexity: Installing this type of limited-slip differential may require additional modifications to the driveshaft, gear housing, and other components.
3. Weight Increase: The Torsen LSD differential is heavier than the stock differential, which can impact suspension tuning and overall balance of the vehicle.
4. Shock Damping: The increased traction provided by the differential might require adjustments to the suspension damping to maintain optimal handling.
Conclusion:The Honda S2000 AP1 00-3 Torsen LSD differential with a 4.78 gear offers significant improvements in traction, handling, and acceleration. However, these enhancements come at a price, both financially and in terms of additional setup and tuning concerns.
Those who prioritize driving enjoyment, motorsports applications, or seeking a significant upgrade to their S2000's performance may find the benefits outweigh the costs. For those looking for a more budget-friendly option or those who prefer a more straightforward, everyday driving feel, the standard differential may be a better fit.
Recommendation:Ultimately, the decision to install a Torsen LSD differential with 4.78 gear in your Honda S2000 is a personal one that depends on your budget, goals, and desired driving experience. If you can afford the investment and are committed to maximizing the potential of your S2000, then going for this upgrade may be worthwhile. For those seeking a more cost-effective solution or preferring a more stock driving feel, the standard differential should suffice.
The pinion gear turns smoothly and the backlash setup are to spec. The case had minimal rust prior to cleaning and painting, the rear cover is not oxidized. Rebuilt Honda2000 ap1 oem torsen limited slip differential with 4.78 racer gears rear cover flanges. This is a fully rebuilt torsen lsd with 4.78:1 ratio gear set 43/9 installed Mazda-made ring and pinion.
Fits ap1 model's from 2000 -2003. The cover was sealed to the diff, so not able photograph inner workings of diff as I usually do, but did gear set prior installation. The ring and pinion gear teeth are in great shape, with no damages. You can count on this piece to be set up correctly and not fail as a result of poor workmanship.
The diff was rebuilt using new bearings and seals, had gears changed torsen components evaluated. This listing includes the complete diff with side flanges that you see in photos. The differential is in as-new condition. Will not fit ap2 model's unless you install an ap1 driveshaft.
All of the cooling fins are solid and not broken.
